Tamil Rockers Websites Blocked by Google After Admins' Arrest

Tamilrockers.com, tamilrockers.ac and other websites owned by Tamil Rockers have been blocked by search engine Google after five admins of the domains were arrested. The arrested men are accused of uploading pirated South Indian movies on websites like tamilrockers.in, tamilrockers.ac, tamilrockers.me, tamilrockers.co, tamilrockers.is and others. Prime accused and Tamil Rockers owner Prabhu has 19 such domains.

The arrests of Tamil Rockers and DVD rockers’ members came after the police began tracking an email which had mentioned having a connection with piracy websites. According to police, a Haryana-based advertisement company had sent a mail to one Akhil, arrested in a similar case in 2016. The mail, according to the reports, had mentioned having ties with the Tamil Rockers.

“This ad company had sent a mail to Akhil, offering to publish ads on the website he was running. In that email, the company happened to mention that they have ties with Tamil Rockers. We got the information about Tamilrockers through this ad company.” anti-piracy cell SP Prasanthan told The News Minute. This led the police to other accused who would upload pirated South Indian movies on Tamil Rockers’ websites.

Tamil Rockers and DVD rocker have together bought 19 domains online where they allegedly released new films in case of the police block one. The accused have been identified as Villupuram native Karthi, his accomplice Suresh, TNRockers owner Prabhu, DVD Rockers owner Tirunelveli native Johnson and his accomplice Maria John. Members of Tamil Rockers websites have reportedly earned over Rs 1 crore in last few months through piracy.

“All the gang members were technically qualified. It even included MSc and BSc holders in computer science. They used to record movies in pieces from various parts of the world and join it. We are trying to trace more members of the gang including Karthi’s brothers,” Anti-piracy cell SP B. K. Prasanthan Kani told Deccan Chronicle.
